Krakowskie Wianki
We współczesnej formie, jako cykliczna impreza masowa, krakowskie Wianki istnieją od 1992, gdy patronat nad tym wydarzeniem objął Urząd Miasta Kraków. Pierwotnie obchodzono je jako pogańskie ...

A trip to Antipodes is an expensive dream but on the exhibition “Whereabouts of the Southern Pacific,” which will take place between 12th and 23rd April 2010 in the Jagiellonian Library in Krakow, this dream, at least partially, can come true. The photographs of the distant regions of the Pacific will show emerald lagoons, sandy beaches, unusually beautiful coral reefs and exotic eucalyptus.
Everyone will feel as if he was on holiday, especially on the day of the vernissage, which will take place on 12th April at 11 o’clock. Apart from watching wonderful pictures, every participant of that event will have a chance to see the collection of coins, enjoy the Polynesian handicraft and taste the food of Oceania. So if you haven’t tasted artocarpus fruit, banana bread coconut chicken or Poi drink, you should definitely come to the vernissage! All these tasty activities will be accompanied by the sounds of ukulele music and the hula dance shows.
During the vernissage the contest “Antipodes familiar and unfamiliar” organized for the Cracovian high-schools will be officially finished and the prizes will be distributed. The event is also going to be combined with a scientific discussion, during which young scientists will talk about the mentioned region of the world.
The event is organized by the Scientific Association of Australia, New Zealand and Oceania and the Institute of political Studies and International Relations of the Jagiellonian Unversity.
