The last year’s crisis did not prevent Krakow from taking the first place in the ranking of the cities with the county rights. The ranking, which was organized by the Association of Polish Counties, has assessed 52 cities. It is very prestigious to be included in the first 15 positions of the ranking – but Krakow gained most points and turned out to be the best!
The cities competed in over 50 categories. What was taken into consideration, then? Amongst others: pro-investment and pro-development actions, the actions which improve the quality of services for the inhabitants, the development of the information society, promotion of eco-energetic, pro-ecologic and pro-health solutions and finally, the national and international cooperation.  
Our city gained points in over half of the categories. More details can be found on the website of  the Polish County Association at www.zpp.pl, but we may disclose that the Association has appreciated, amongst others, Krakow’s participation in international culture-oriented projects, implementation of renewable energy project, and finally, free hot spots and the e-office system which have become very popular among the inhabitants of Krakow.
